KH has studied vocal technique for more than 20 years (achieving a Grade 8 in Classical Vocal technique from Trinity Guildhall in 2016) and has nearly a decade of coaching experience. KH has a deep passion for voice lessons, wanting to demystify the often inaccessible art that is Operatic singing and provide aspiring singers with a strong knowledge of their vocal abilities and a foundation of technique that ensures vocal longevity and health.

Student Testimony (C, Student since 2023) :

Having Katia as a vocal coach has been so amazing! She brings a true vibrance to our sessions and makes it so easy to enjoy singing for someone else. I find myself looking forward to our next session even before the current one is over because it is clear how much she enjoys what she does. I came for help with my singing but lucky me, I'm also gaining confidence and the audacity to try new things (even if my comfort zone hates me for it). Really lovely person and I would definitely recommend!!

‘Access to the arts should never be conditional; this is especially true for young people and children who – regardless of background, area or ability- deserve to participate and submerge themselves in the beneficial and transformative powers of the arts.’

KH has worked across the UK in different community arts settings to create a strong facilitation practice that is centred on flexibility and empowerment and provides access for all. While studying for their BA in Theatre, they became interested in community arts practice, later studying community and applied praxis. KH has worked with many organisations, including the University of Bolton Theatre Society, The Octagon Theatre in Bolton, City of Sanctuary, Crystal Palace Performing Arts, Legacy Youth Zone and Family of Dramatics. Primarily their practice focuses on Theatre and performing arts, namely Physical Theatre, Devising, Playwrighting, Vocal Technique and Poetry. KH has worked with children 6 - 18 and has also worked with adults 18+ including working with those from refugee and asylum seeker communities and also with those with additional needs. KH has worked in Legacy Youth Zone in Croydon, across both Music and Performing arts where their practice has grown considerably. At Legacy KH implemented a programme of vocal tuition that included foundational techniques in both Jazz and Opera, applying her own experience and qualifications in Classical Singing to provide accessible education and transferable skills to young people. KH was also a founder of the Legacy Youth Zone Choir; in her role, she has arranged, conducted and supported the choir through their performances in Legacy, Box Park Croydon, Stanley Arts and Wembley Stadium.

Currently, KH is working as the Young Creative Lead for This Is Croydon, London Borough of Culture 2023. This role is to ensure the widespread engagement of the LBoC programme to the young people of Croydon, prioritising accessibility and quality of engagement with companies such as Croydon Music and Arts, Stanley Arts and Boundless. KH is also the chair of the Youth Arts Advisory Group for the London Borough of Culture programme, Creating a space where young people can have their voices heard and be given the opportunity to make change within the Croydon Arts Sector.
